Aloha all Columbia River Pickleball Club Members!
Opening letter from your new President
I would like to start off by saying how excited I am to be your club President for the next two years. Thank you to Mike Wolfe for doing an excellent job working with all of us to start and build up our club. It took more sweat and effort than Mike will admit to, but thankfully Tawn was right there as our club Secretary (and wife) to help. Most of you know how valuable Steve Paranto is on the court and his experience and input as Vice President is a great asset for our club. It should also be noted that both Steve and Tawn have accepted a one year extension for their role in our club. All of our contact info can be found under the “About Us” tab on the redesigned website. http://columbiariverpickleball.com (Please let me know if you have any interest in becoming a future board member.)
As for what I am going to focus on for our club, I believe our mission statement is right on target: “The mission of the CRPC is to promote the development and growth of Pickleball in the Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington, area.” Tournaments, clinics and mixers have been very successful and will continue.
The Pickle Barrel annual tournament has been very successful and continues to grow each year. We are about to close the registration for this year as we are reaching capacity of the Club Green Meadows facility for 2014. As a warm up to this year’s tournament, a mixer is planned in Corvallis at the Timberhill Athletic Club. (Details will be posted soon).
Currently our club has these committees in varying levels of engagement: Tournaments, Graphics and Design, Memberships, Web Design, Newsletter, Social Events, Facilities, Photos, Procurement. Thank you very much to all of you that have invested time in these groups! I also welcome anyone to volunteer, assist and be a part of the fun if you have a passion for any of these.
In closing, I am an easy guy to find via email, phone or on the court about ideas, pickleball, or whatever. If I haven’t met you yet, feel free to introduce yourself. I welcome your ideas and will do my best to have our club be a leader in the Northwest.
I look forward to your support.
